Terms of service
These terms describe the commercial boundary for accounts, tax requests, usage limits, billing, and customer responsibilities. A signed order or separately accepted agreement controls if it conflicts with this page.
01
Use of service
Customers may use the API for qualified sales tax calculation workflows, including supported VAT, GST, and related indirect-tax use cases. Customers are responsible for their account owners and members, integration behavior, and API-key security. Keys must be rotated or revoked when access changes. Use must also follow the acceptable use policy.
02
Tax scope and customer decisions
The service provides sales tax calculation infrastructure and explains the facts and qualified rules used for a result. It is not legal or tax advice and does not provide registration, filing, remittance, audit representation, or merchant-of-record services. Customers remain responsible for their registrations, filings, remittances, item classification, source facts, and professional advice. A response of
review_required or unsupported is not a tax conclusion.03
Supported combinations and changes
Determinate tax amounts are limited to supported transaction combinations. The separate coverage lookup is optional. Each sales tax calculation returns its own outcome. Tax rules, source evidence, and service behavior change. Customers must test integrations, retain returned identifiers and versions, monitor outcomes, and handle non-determinate responses. Material API changes follow the published version and deprecation policy.
04
Plans, usage, and billing
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Included public API calls, overages, customer-selected caps, active keys, retention, support, and other plan limits are governed by the selected v1 plan or a signed order. Each request authenticated with an account API key, admitted by the service protection boundary, and sent directly to a public
/v1 endpoint counts once. A request rejected with 429 rate_limit_exceeded before admission does not count. Dashboard, control-plane, health, cron, and internal batch-worker requests do not count. An idempotent replay is a new public API call and counts once, even when it returns a stored response.05
Cancellation and refunds
Paid fees and usage charges are non-refundable and non-creditable, including for partial billing periods, unused API calls, non-use, downgrades, or cancellation. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Service remains available through the end of the paid billing period, subject to these terms, and charges already incurred remain due. We may correct a verified billing error. Nothing in this section limits a refund, credit, withdrawal right, or other remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
06
Availability and support
The service is provided subject to maintenance, upstream dependencies, and the availability terms of the selected plan or signed order. Current availability is shown on the status page. No service-level commitment applies unless it is stated in a signed order.
07
Customer data
Customers authorize processing needed to provide and secure the service and confirm they have a lawful basis for information they submit. The privacy policy and data-processing overview describe the current handling boundary. Do not submit payment-card data or unrelated sensitive information.
08
Suspension and termination
Access may be limited or suspended when needed to protect customers, the service, or third parties. We may also restrict access in response to unlawful use, overdue payments, or plan-limit violations. Account termination does not erase records that must legitimately be retained for security, billing, accounting, dispute, or legal purposes.
