Prepare a sales tax API integration with secure keys, retries, monitoring, and stored results.

Before you ship

Keep API keys in server-side environment variables.
Send the transaction date, customer location, seller registrations, and item details used for the calculation.
Handle review_required and unsupported as non-final outcomes.
Store the calculation ID, request ID, line IDs, outcome, amounts, and explanation with the related record.
Use the returned decimal strings when charging, displaying, finalizing, or adjusting amounts.
Retry a create request with the same body and idempotency key.
